Pontianak (ANTARA) - A total of 86 patients were removed from Abdul Azis Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Singkawang City, West Kalimantan Province, to safer places as floodwater inundated its wards.

"The heavy rains that have fallen on Singkawang City since Saturday night (Nov 5) have inundated several roads. One of them is in the front of Abdul Aziz Hospital in Singkawang and consequently, tens of patients were affected as floodwater entered wards," the hospital's director Achmad Hardin said on Sunday.

The flood waters which reached 10 centimeters deep inundated several rooms including the child ward, surgery ward, internist room, VIP room, and ISO room.

"In total, the flood affected 86 patients comprising 39 men and 47 women," he said.

Despite the flood, no patients were evacuated to other places. "No patients were evacuated as the flood waters have gradually receded," he said.

The other flooded rooms at the hospital included the HD room, laboratory, nutrition room, CSSD, and IPSRS.

"I hope the intensity of rainfalls will no longer be high so that the flood waters will recede soon and our hospital service will return to normal," Hardin said.
