Australia supports Indonesia's Presidency for the 17th G20 Summit in Bali on November 15-16
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto met Ambassador of Australia to Indonesia Penny Williams who during the meeting conveyed her country's support for the G20 Summit in Bali next week.

During the meeting on Tuesday,, the ambassador confirmed that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will partake in the G20 Summit while taking along Finance Minister Jim Chalmers and Australian entrepreneurs in the entourage.

"Australia supports Indonesia's Presidency for the 17th G20 Summit in Bali on November 15-16," Ambassador Williams stated, as per the coordinating ministry's statement on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the coordinating minister and the ambassador discussed the planned 2nd Economic, Trade, and Investment Ministerial Meeting (ETIMM) that serves as a platform for economic, trade, and investment ministers of both nations to discuss bilateral and global economic cooperation.

The two officials also discussed the Australian-Indonesian Business Council (AIBC) conference, attended by over 250 business organizations and Indonesian and Australian government representatives, which concluded earlier on November 1-4, 2022, in Darwin, Australia.

Hartarto and Williams discussed the participation of Indonesia and Australia in the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII) taking place on the sidelines of the G20 Summit next week. Indonesia is expected to organize the meeting along with the United States and the European Commission.

The ambassador then notified the coordinating minister that the Australian government had offered G20 scholarships to 10 select Indonesian students to study majors that are considered relevant to Indonesia's G20 priority areas.

All scholarship recipients are currently in Bali to prepare their departure to Australia next year, she added.

Indonesia and Australia have also actively participated in the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), which is the first round of negotiations expected to take place in Australia next December.
