"The team would consist of members of the monitoring and legal facility bureau expert team," Bawaslu RI Commissioner Herwyn Jefler Hielsa Malonda noted as per the statement received on Wednesday.
The electoral supervisory agency convened here on Tuesday (November 15) to deliberate the establishment of the supervisory team, he noted.
The commissioner said that the team would be tasked with determining the focus of their monitoring works based on the regulation violation vulnerabilities and potential assessment.
Apart from establishing the supervisory team, other Bawaslu strategies to monitor the determination of electoral districts and allocation of seats in regional legislatures are by providing official recommendations to the General Elections Commission (KPU) regarding the two tasks, the agency official remarked.
He affirmed that the Bawaslu would map the electoral districts and notify the KPU if the agency found any discrepancy in the process to determine and finalize electoral districts.
Moreover, the finalization of electoral districts by regional KPU offices, allocation of seats in regional legislatures, coordination meetings between KPU and political parties, and public consultation about electoral districts' finalization and seat allocation, would be directly monitored by the agency.
"We will also thoroughly recheck the final allocation of seats and electoral districts by the KPU and directly monitor coordination meetings with political parties and public consultations," Malonda stated.
He remarked that the finalization of electoral districts for regional legislature elections would be conducted by the KPU RI from January 1 to February 9, 2023.
