The cooperation is marked by the inking of a memorandum of understanding on Information Service Utilization during the 2024 General Election and Governor and Deputy Governor, District Head and Deputy District Head, and/or Mayor and Deputy Mayor Elections.
The MoU signing was conducted by Communication and Informatics Minister Johnny G. Plate and Head of KPU Hasyim Asy'ari at the KPU Building here, Tuesday.
On the occasion, Asy'ari expressed gratitude over the ministry's willingness to establish cooperation with KPU that can contribute in making the 2024 Simultaneous Elections a success.
Thus far, the KPU has always striven to optimize the use of information technology in general election services, such as the Political Party Information System (Sipol) as a tool to register and verify elections participants' political parties.
Moreover, the KPU has the Candidacy Information System (Silon) and Election Region Information System (Sidapil).
Meanwhile, in his remark, Plate also said that the MoU inking is a form of concrete step by the government in preparing various facilities to make the 2024 Simultaneous Elections a success.
Cooperation on the use of information service is also related to ethical, safe, and responsible general election data and information exchange, he remarked.
Plate reminded his colleagues at the ministry and KPU to ensure that the entire general election data and information exchange, which is sensitive in nature, remains safe, ethical, and does not violate the law.
In addition, he expects the collaboration to proceed smoothly, especially in connection with content development, public education, and accurate distribution of general election information.
