Jakarta (ANTARA) - Apparel, footwear, and fashion small and medium industries (IKMs) fostered by the Industry Ministry have so far recorded total transactions worth Rp863 million at the 37th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI).

“Meanwhile, the potential transaction value for food products can be more than that," director general of small, medium, and various industries (IKMA) at the ministry, Reni Yanita, said in a statement released on Thursday.

Her office helped 40 IKM players from Java region, Bali province, and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province to participate in TEI 2022, which was organized by the Trade Ministry in collaboration with various ministries and institutions.

The ministry provided booths and showcase facilities for the IKMs.

The 37th TEI was held offline at Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE), Tangerang district, Banten province, from October 19–23, 2022.

Meanwhile, the online implementation of the exhibition is still on at www.tradexpoindonesia.com and will end on December 19, 2022.

“The facilitated IKMs have export-quality products as well as complete business and export permits," the director general said.

The products of the IKMs were highly welcomed by many local and foreign buyers at the exhibition, she added.

She noted that the sustainable aspect as well as the environmental and social impacts of the IKM products were the added value of the businesses, in addition to the unique models, designs, and production methods of the commodities.

For instance, Balinese woven endek cloth made by Kekean Wastra Gallery, one of the IKMs that received assistance from the Industry Ministry to take part in the 2022 TEI, succeeded in getting included in one of Christian Dior's Spring/Summer 2021 collections.

Yanita said that the total transactions recorded by Kekean Wastra Gallery reached more than Rp500 million.

CV Karya Temanesia, which produces fashion and accessories made from silk cultivated by local farmers in Pasuruan and Malang districts, East Java province, also received positive responses from visitors at the 37th TEI.

The IKM recorded total transactions of more than Rp100 million.

The Industry Ministry also set up its own booth at the exhibition, which was visited by foreign buyers, trade attachés, large industries, retailers, andinvestors.

A number of buyers from Malaysia, Australia, Sri Lanka, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, and the Netherlands officially transacted with various fostered IKMs at the ministry’s booth.

Meanwhile, some American and Mexican buyers are still in the negotiation stage.
