According to President Joko Widodo's direction, the stimulant funds must be used to build houses
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) distributed stimulant funds to 647 families whose houses were damaged by the earthquake in Nagrak Village, Cianjur District, West Java Province.

The government provided stimulus funds worth Rp15 million to families whose houses were lightly damaged, Rp30 million for moderately damaged houses, and Rp60 million for severely damaged houses.

"According to President Joko Widodo's direction, the stimulant funds must be used to build houses," head of BNPB Lieutenant General Suharyanto stated while symbolically handing out the aid to residents of Nagrak Village as quoted from a statement on Friday.

He noted that the house construction work must be conducted in accordance with recommendations from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).

Since the Cianjur area is prone to earthquakes, residents are recommended to build earthquake-resistant houses.

"The house construction must be in line with the PUPR Ministry's guide of earthquake-resistant house," he noted.

In addition, residents whose houses were severely damaged and irreparable and located in earthquake faults will be relocated to Cilaku Sub-district. The 2.5 hectares of relocation land will be able to accommodate 200 housing units.

Homes in the relocation area will be built using the Simple Healthy Instant House (RISHA) technology that is designed to be earthquake-resistant.

According to data from the Deputy for Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of BNPB, the earthquake damaged 647 houses in Nagrak Village.

The distribution of stimulant funds to residents whose houses were damaged by the earthquake in the village was conducted in stages through Bank Mandiri.

The earthquake that rattled the Cianjur District area on November 21, 2022, killed 321 people and caused serious damage to 25,186 houses, moderate damage to 12,496 houses, and slight damages to 20,367 houses, according to government data.
