Damaged houses were found in the sub-districts of Kubu, Manggis, Karangasem, Abang, Rendang, and Bebandem, Head of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency's Earthquake and Tsunami Center, Daryono, stated here on Wednesday.
The earthquake caused slight damage to 24 houses in Kubu, five in Manggis, 10 in Karangasem, two in Abang, one in Rendang, and four houses in Bendadem.
Daryono urged residents to stay away from buildings that were cracked or damaged by the earthquake and to inspect houses to ensure there was no damage that could endanger the stability of the building before returning to their homes.
The earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.2, struck approximately one km east of Kubu, Karangasem, on Tuesday at 18:38 local time, followed by an aftershock, with a magnitude of 4.8, that struck at 17:56 local time.

The BMKG reported that as of Wednesday at 9 a.m. local time, 61 aftershocks with magnitudes ranging from 1.9 to 4.6 were felt in the area.
The earthquake in Karangasem was also felt in Tabanan, Badung, and Buleleng in the Province of Bali as well as East Lombok, Mataram, North Lombok, Central Lombok, and West Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara Province.
In 1979, Karangasem was hit by an earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.6, which left five people dead and 284 others injured.
On October 16, 2021, Karangasem was again jolted by an earthquake, with a magnitude of 4.8, which left three people dead, 151 others injured, 2,512 houses damaged, and 594 public facilities damaged.
