Jakarta (ANTARA) - Education to preserve the environment, such as clean water, should be imparted as early as possible, Head of Human Resources Counseling and Development at the Environment and Forestry Ministry Ade Palguna stated.

"Capacity improvement and viewpoint changes will be more rooted if it is done from an early age for school children," he noted during the Mizuiku Teachers Guide press conference here, Wednesday.

Water is a resource that all living beings need, but if it is not well-maintained, then there may not be sufficient clean water to meet the demand of the planet's population in future.

Moreover, not everyone has the awareness to preserve clean water despite the fact that water is an important element of life. Hence, it became important to improve the people's capability to preserve water, he explained.

Education on preserving the environment is inseparable from the role of school educators, who also have to receive knowledge in order to be able to disseminate it to students, he emphasized.

Echoing this sentiment, Primary Education Director at the Education, Culture, Research and Technology Ministry Muhammad Hasbi noted that teachers should receive training, so they can guide their students in preserving clean water and the environment.

Through this training, teachers can serve as examples in preserving the environment, teaching, and even motivating students to become involved in loving and preserving the environment for their future.

Earlier, Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono stated that the availability of clean water access through infrastructure development with new technology will encourage and improve economic growth.

Water infrastructure development with new technology became one of the priority agendas since it is deemed to be able to equalize development between regions that encourages economic growth in the end.

Currently, the population of 2.4 billion in the planet require access to clean water and sanitation.
