Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, as secretary of the Sharia Economy and Finance National Committee (KNEKS), reported the preparations for the KNEKS Plenary Meeting to Vice President Ma'ruf Amin at his residence here on Monday.

Amin is the chief of the committee. The third KNEKS Plenary Meeting, which has been mandated by Presidential Regulation No. 28 of 2020 on the Sharia Economy and Finance National Committee, will be held on Tuesday.

The meeting's agenda will include an evaluation of government work programs on the development of the sharia economy and a discussion on further actions.

The work programs include the acceleration of halal certification for micro and small enterprises (MSEs) and the development of infrastructure under a cooperation scheme between the government and sharia enterprises.

They also comprise the national waqf management transformation, export support for halal Industry MSEs, and institutional strengthening for the development of the sharia economy by regional governments.

The KNEKS Plenary Meeting, which will be themed “Make Indonesia into a Renowned Halal Producer in the World,” will be held at the Vice Presidential Palace.

The meeting will be joined by 16 KNEKS members, who will comprise the leaders of ministries or institutions, Bank Indonesia, Financial Services Authority, Indonesian Ulema Council, as well as Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

According to a statement issued on Monday, the KNEKS Plenary Meeting is expected to expedite efforts to develop the sharia economy by all related parties to realize the vision of Indonesia becoming the world’s leading sharia economic center.

KNEKS is a non-structural institution led by the president and vice president, which has been specifically tasked with expediting, expanding, and developing sharia economy and finance to support national economic resiliency.The formation of KNEKS was a part of the government's commitment to managing the potential of the sharia economy so that it can optimally contribute to the national economy, based on Indonesians' economic conditions and local culture.
