Makassar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA) - The University of Hasanuddin (Unhas) and Japanese company Nippon Koei Co. Ltd. have established cooperation in agricultural technology.

The cooperation could offer benefits to Unhas in agricultural research, Unhas' deputy rector for partnership, research, entrepreneurship, and business, Prof. Dr. Eng Adi Maulana, M.Phil, said in a press release issued here on Friday.

"Unhas continues to collaborate with potential partners. This aims to expand partnerships and to provide better contribution as an academic institution with quality resources," he said.

The synergy with Nippon Koei is expected to make a big difference to Unhas' commitment and efforts to promote the welfare of the Indonesian people, he added.

On the same occasion, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture of Unhas, Prof. Salengke, said that the cooperation will focus on research collaboration in order to improve the agricultural sector, particularly in South Sulawesi.

The Faculty of Agriculture and Nippon Koei will make several programs to be run by both parties.

Nippon Koei Indonesia representative head Tomonori Sakashita thanked Unhas for being open to forming partnerships.

According to him, Unhas is a potential partner with quality human resources.

Tomonori said he considered it very appropriate to partner with Unhas to improve the Indonesian agricultural sector, including South Sulawesi, which is rich in natural resources.
