Bogor, West Java (ANTARA) - The Bogor Police have estimated a 25-percent increase in vehicle volume compared to normal conditions on the Puncak Line, Bogor, West Java.

"As of today at 1 p.m., there are around 28 thousand vehicles (on the Puncak Line)," head of Bogor Police's Traffic Unit, Adjunct Commissioner Dicky Anggi Pranata, informed at Gadog Integrated Service Post here on Friday.

To control the density of vehicles on the Puncak Line, police implemented a one-way system from Puncak to Jakarta for an hour on Friday.

The situational one-way system is being utilized whenever the traffic flow is dense.

"We quickly begin the one-way system down to reduce traffic flow to (Jakarta)," he said.

The police were also scheduled to implement an odd-even license plate rule from 3 p.m. on Friday to 12 a.m. on Sunday (January 1, 2023).

Based on ANTARA's monitoring, on the Puncak-Bogor Line, the one-way system from the direction of Puncak to Jakarta was enforced starting 2:50 p.m. local time. Vehicles that were heading to Puncak were stopped at Gadog Interchange, Ciawi, Bogor.

After the Friday Shalat (prayer), vehicle overcrowding was observed at 1:15 p.m. at several congestion points, including from Gadog Interchange to Cimory Megamendung on the Jakarta to Puncak route.

Meanwhile, on the Puncak to Jakarta route, traffic jams were seen from KFC Cisarua, Cisarua Market to Taman Safari Indonesia (TSI) Park and from Taman Wisata Matahari (TWM) tourism park to Cimory Megamendung.

Bogor Police chief, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, said that the overcrowding of vehicles on Friday afternoon occurred because people who celebrated the New Year in Puncak arrived early, or before the lines were completely closed.

As many as 2,500 joint personnel were involved in securing the year-end holiday period in Bogor, he added.

"The Lilin Operation 2022 is being carried out to secure Christmas and New Year (celebrations) starting from December 22, 2022, to January 2, 2023," he said.

The Regional Leadership Communication Forum has agreed to place the 2,500 personnel at 15 security posts in crowded areas.
