Lampung's inflation is currently at a moderate position… Thus, (we) will continue to strive to control it so that the economy remains under control.
Bandarlampung, Lampung (ANTARA) - The Lampung provincial government has received 1 million chili seedlings from the central government to support efforts to control inflation in the province.

"One of the government's efforts to keep the inflation rate under control is providing subsidies and assistance," assistant II for economy and development in the Lampung provincial government Kusnardi said here on Monday.

According to him, the assistance has been provided by the Directorate General of Horticulture of the Ministry of Agriculture. The seedlings will be sent to district and city governments who will later distribute them to farmers, he informed.

He said that with more farmers planting chilis, it is expected that the prices of the commodity in the province will become stable, and thereby help rein in inflation.

"In accordance with the instruction of the central government, regions have been asked to continue controlling inflation. Because inflation is not merely about numbers but is related to the lives of many people," he added.

Apart from the distribution of chili seedlings, the government is also carrying out the "4K" strategy, which includes ensuring price affordability, supply availability, smooth distribution, and effective communication, to cut inflation.

"Lampung's inflation is currently at a moderate position, namely at 5.51, just like national inflation. Thus, (we) will continue to strive to control it so that the economy remains under control," Kusnardi said.

Based on data from the National Strategic Food Price Information Center (PIHPS) on January 9, 2023, the price of medium-sized shallots rose to Rp37,600 per kilogram; garlic Rp27,200 per kilogram; and medium-quality rice to Rp12,350 per kilogram.

Some other commodities whose prices recorded an increase were curly red chilis, priced at Rp40,750 per kilogram; large red chilis, Rp36,350 per kilogram; and bulk cooking oil, Rp14,600 per liter.
