Head of the North Penajam Paser District’s Health Service Jense Grace Makisurat delivered the remarks in Penajam on Friday.
"We remind the companies that are carrying out the construction of the IKN to open health clinics for workers according to operational standards," she said.
Contractors and companies involved in the IKN infrastructure development project are expected to open clinics by arranging the required permits for clinics to operate based on the set standards, she noted.
In addition, the clinics must be built inside the contractors’ and companies’ offices because most of their employees or workers come from outside the region.
Meanwhile, community health centers (puskesmas) in the Sepaku Sub-district area are only equipped to provide health services based on the local population.
The availability of medicines, medical devices, and medical personnel at the puskesmas in Sepaku Sub-district is calculated based on the total population of the area, not migrants, Makisurat disclosed.
The clinics located within company premises must be equipped to provide first aid to workers with serious health problems that require immediate treatment.
"The existence of clinics and medical personnel in every company will not only help workers who are sick, but also help healthy employees to manage their health as well," she explained.
Meanwhile, Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority Bambang Susantono assured that the development of housing for construction workers is on track.
He said that the provision of proper housing for workers is a new approach to elevating the quality of life of construction workers in the place where they work.
