According to the head of state, people needed to be informed of the right ways to care for babies.
“Be careful about this. So, once again, what's called counseling, counseling, counseling, is important. (It is) because, the mother said this sachet of milk coffee is beneficial since it contains milk in it. Be careful," he cautioned.
The president delivered his remarks at a national coordination meeting hosted by the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) that discussed about the strategy for family development, population and family planning, as well as stunting reduction programs.
Babies' internal organs, such as the kidneys and heart, are not yet strong enough to endure the effects of such beverages, he pointed out. Therefore, babies should not be given coffee milk.
Jokowi also spoke about the police officers that approached the mother in question. He opined that officials from the BKKBN and integrated health services should have been the ones to have made the visit first to educate the lady.
“But supposedly, integrated health services cadres, National Population and Family Planning Agency cadres became the ones who come there. Maybe because of the National Police Chief's speed, maybe because the Police Chief's reaction was fast, they came ahead from the cadres," he concluded.
In the last few days, a video depicting a baby drinking milk coffee has gone viral on social media. The adult, who gave the milk coffee in the video, claimed that milk coffee was better than sweetened condensed milk. The person commented that coffee milk really contains milk, while the other did not.
