Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Tourism and Creative Economy Minister has expressed his support for tourist village development through the provision of technical guidance to some villages in the buffer zone of the Labuan Bajo super-priority tourism destination (DPSP).

During a technical training, people of Golo Bilas, Gorontalo, and Wae Kelambu villages of Mangarai district were provided information on tourism awareness and preparation of tourism awareness groups, mapping the potential of tourist villages, group discussions, and practical work on potential tourist village planning.

"The development of a tourist village has a derivative impact on every industry which got involved, so that it can create jobs and improve people's welfare," Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said in a written statement received here on Thursday.

Destinations must be managed while taking into account aspects such as tourism product innovation, micro, small, and medium enterprise development, and tourism sustainability, the minister added.

Meanwhile, deputy for destination development and infrastructure at the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry Vinsensius Jemadu said that the ministry's programs cover destination management, an aspect that requires cooperation, support, and preparation from regions.

Hence, people in tourist destinations need to adopt a point of view and understanding that stays true to the direction of the destination's development.

Even though tourism villages are small and simple destinations, they are capable of having a huge impact, even so far as to influence other aspects of development, he pointed out.

"This certainly requires active and enthusiastic players, as well as having the capital and skills that can develop their village as an eye-catching and attractive tourist destination to tourists," Jemadu added.
