Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN), Hasto Wardoyo, has asked all members of family assistance teams (TPK) to complete training before March 2023 to support stunting reduction acceleration.

"Before March 2023, all TPK (members) must have been trained for stunting reduction acceleration efforts. I want all (stunting) task forces in provinces to ensure this," he said in an official statement released by BKKBN here on Saturday.

Several regions have trained facilitators who will train and guide TPK members, whose number has been pegged at around 600 thousand nationally and who have been tasked with assisting families that are at risk of stunting, he added.

One of the provinces that already has trained facilitators for TPKs is Central Java, with a total of 608 facilitators divided into 15 batches.

Wardoyo noted that the Central Java BKKBN Representative Office has ensured the completion of training for all facilitators by February 10, 2023.

"Head of the West Java BKKBN Representative Office has (also) ensured that 111 thousand TPK (members) across West Java have been trained. The other region that has completed (the training) is East Java," the BKKBN head informed.

Secretary of the Southeast Sulawesi BKKBN Representative Office, Muslimin, said that the measurement of the skills and worthiness of facilitators in the province will be carried out by evaluating their knowledge, attitude, and skills through a series of pre-tests and post-tests.

Facilitators who pass with a minimum score of 70 will serve as trainers for 2,597 TPK personnel in Southeast Sulawesi. They will be divided into 156 training batches and spread over 222 sub-districts in 17 districts and cities.

On February 8, the Southeast Sulawesi BKKBN held a workshop and training session, which was attended by 236 facilitators.

The event was held for three days with training materials that covered the basic concept of stunting and the first 1,000 days of a child's life, TPK duties and functions, TPK work mechanism, quality family villages, and interpersonal communication.
