While regarding the (preparations for the workers’) personal logistics, we will be assisted by BNPB.Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Health Ministry will deploy 65 health workers to treat residents in Turkiye and Syria that are affected by the 7.8-magnitude (M) earthquake that jolted Kahramanmara Province, Turkiye, on January 6, 2023.
"The medical team will depart in one group on Monday (February 13, 2023) aboard a special plane," acting head of the Health Crisis Center at the ministry, Sumarjaya, noted in a statement, here, on Sunday.
Sumarjaya remarked that the team of medical personnel comprised specialist doctors, general medical workers, and supporting workers.
The specialist doctors comprise surgeons, orthopedic specialists, anesthesiologists, pediatricians, emergency specialists, obstetricians, and psychiatrists.
Furthermore, general medical workers comprise general practitioners, operating room nurses, emergency room nurses, ICU nurses, psychologists, pharmacists, midwives, epidemiologists, nutritionists, and environmental health expert.
Meanwhile, supporting workers include administration, logistics, and health coordinator officers.
Sumarjaya stated that the ministry’s health team will be sent along with 39 other medical personnel from the military, police, and National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) as an Emergency Medical Team (EMT).
He emphasized that during the humanitarian mission, the Health Ministry’s team will focus on providing prompt and pertinent health services to the quake victims.
Hence, the team will establish an EMT hospital with a capacity to serve 100-150 outpatients per day, 10 inpatients per day, 10 minor surgeries per day, as well as one to two major surgery for patients per day.
The EMT hospital will also have a mobile team capable of serving 50 patients per day.
The ministry's official noted that on this occasion, his side sends the type 3 EMT Team equipped with x-ray machines and operating table.
In addition to the medical team, his side will also dispatch 2.5 tons of assistance, including non-medical logistics, medical devices, medicines, and Consumable Medical Assistance (BMHP).
Furthermore, Sumarjaya revealed that the health workers were also urged to be aware of the situation and conditions in the field, since currently, the temperatures in Turkiye and Syria can reach minus seven degrees Celsius.
