"I come with Mr. military district commander and Mr. regional police chief to ensure that the mitigation process can be implemented well," Parawansa noted after her review of the progress in the efforts made in Kalisat Village.
As many as 95 houses in that village were inundated.
The governor pressed for the evacuation process to be conducted in a safe manner as well as to pay attention to the needs of people, who fell victims to the disaster.
"We must ensure the mitigation procedure, so it would meet the security standards during disasters, and the evacuation process must be well-arranged. Next, there must be efforts to pursue relocation during the period of reconstruction," she elaborated.
She also appealed to everyone to ensure that there were sufficient amounts of logistics for the victims.
Parawansa ensured that East Java's Social Affairs Office and the province's disaster mitigation agency have worked with their counterparts in Bondowoso District as well as with the National Disaster Mitigation Agency to address the issue.
"Make sure that logistics for people, who are affected, are handled well. A public kitchen has been prepared by East Java's Social Affairs Office, East Java Disaster Mitigation Agency, as well as from the district. Health services are also important. I come here with the Health Office, East Java Police Department, and Brawijaya Military District Command V, to also be present (to assist in the cause)," Parawansa elaborated.
Commander of the Brawijaya Military District Command V Major General Farid Makruf echoed the unit's commitment to always assist in the process as well as to remind people to always help one another.
"We, from the national defense force and national police, are very ready to assist in the disaster mitigation, moreover so after the mud that rolled down from above. I expect that the people would cooperate with each other in handling this. We, representing the government, ensure that the aid for people have been readied," he elaborated.
Chief of the East Java Police Department Inspector General Toni Harmanto commended people's immediate response to the disaster that allow for prevention of further damage.
"We are grateful that people respond immediately to the disaster which hit, so everything can be resolved quickly and well," he remarked.
