"The Health Office already assisted in conducting the second booster vaccination for prisoners and detainees in prisons and detention centers in Jakarta," Jakarta Law and Human Rights Ministry's Regional Office Head Ibnu Chuldun noted here, Tuesday.
According to Chuldun, there are around 17 thousand prisoners and detainees in Jakarta's correctional facilities and detention centers.
Meanwhile, the Jakarta Health Office has already undertaken a direct visit to several of these facilities. They deploy medical workers to correctional facilities and prisons in Jakarta through the public health centers (puskesmas) in each sub-district.
Earlier, Duren Sawit Puskesmas, East Jakarta, through the @puskesdurensawit Instagram account on Thursday, conducted the first to fourth dose of COVID-19 vaccinations.
These vaccinations were undertaken in several places, such as in the Jakarta II-A Class Women Correctional Facility and Pondok Bambu Detention Center.
The Pfizer brand of vaccine was administered for the first, second, third, and fourth dose of vaccination.
Meanwhile, the Jakarta Health Office prepared around 300 vaccination centers for Monday-Sunday that include afternoon and evening service at 4:00-8:00 p.m. local time and 44 puskesmas in sub-districts for administering the Pfizer and Zifivax brand of vaccines.
In addition to puskesmas and hospitals, vaccinations, which also include booster shots, are conducted at the Jakarta City Hall for mayor and district head offices.
The office explained that booster vaccination is important to prevent death and prolonged suffering due to COVID-19.
According to the Health Ministry's data, vaccination coverage in Jakarta until Monday reached 12.6 million out of the 10 million people targeted for the first dose vaccination.
Moreover, the second dose coverage reached 10.9 million, third dose coverage stood at 5.4 million, while the number of fourth dose recipients totaled 357,599.
