The process of transferring the letters of this Law and PP KIP is an implementation of accessible public information that is open to everyone, including to persons with disabilities.
"Laws and government regulations regarding KIP must be changed to braille letters because public information must be accessible to everyone, including those with disabilities," KIP Commissioner for Regulation and Public Policy Gede Narayana noted in a written statement received here Thursday.
Narayana is optimistic that the transfer of legal text letters to braille format will not only be limited to UU and PP KIP but also to the Information Commission Regulations (PERKI). In future, the Law and PP KIP will also be converted into audiobook format.
At the coordination meeting held between the Ministry of Social Affairs and KIP, Head of Wyata Guna Sentra Bandung, Iri Sapria, elaborated on the technical mechanism for braille printing that is processed based on application letters from individuals and institutions.
Sentra Wyata Guna is targeting to print as many as 48 thousand braille books per year using the state budget. Thus, the books will be free of charge for the public.
"With the state budget, we have funding to print and send the braille format to applicants. We accommodate requests from organizations, government agencies, regional libraries, and individuals from all regions in Indonesia. This also applies to the production of audiobooks," Sapria noted.
Sapria said that in 2023, Sentra Wyata Guna had made a braille production plan based on public request.
"Once we collected (the request), we will produce the braille format. There are two types of braille production, namely printed with a special braille printer and typed manually on a special tool. Both methods will be using a special braille application," Sapria explained.
After the typing process, editing will be carried out by two editors with visual disabilities. The braille text is then neatly printed and bound and sent to the applicant's address, Sapria stated.
During the visit, KIP also conducted a direct inspection of the braille production building and the audio book production room at Sentra Wyata Guna Bandung.
