MSMEs are being asked to showcase quality and competitive products with affordable prices.
Balige, N Sumatra (ANTARA) - The government of Toba District, North Sumatra Province, has prepared several public entertainment events as well as micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) bazaars to enliven the implementation of the F1 Powerboat (F1H2O) World Championship.

Three locations have been readied for the side events of the F1H2O, namely the Soposurung Mini Field, Sibolahotang Sas Beach, and the D.I. Pandjaitan Roundabout, acting head of the Communication and Informatics Office of Toba District, Sesmon Butarbutar, said here on Thursday.

The community can join in the public viewing of this year’s racing event -- which will be implemented at Lake Toba, North Sumatra province, from February 24 to 26 -- at the three locations.

The Toba district official informed that the Soposurung Mini Field can accommodate around three thousand visitors, while the Sibolahotang Sas Beach and the D.I. Panjaitan Roundabout can accommodate 1,500 to 2,000 visitors each.

Furthermore, a total of 502 MSMEs, which were assessed and selected by the Communication and Informatics Office, will exhibit their products, mostly culinary products and handicrafts, at the locations.

"Our superior products are Toba (traditional) woven stoles, coffee, rice, and corn, because Toba (district) is also known as an agricultural and coffee production area," Butarbutar informed.

Toba Arabica Coffee has been recognized in the geographical indication (GI) list of the Directorate General of Intellectual Property of Law and Human Rights Ministry, he added.

The Toba district government is encouraging MSME actors to optimize the implementation of the powerboat racing event and promote local traditional food.

"We urge the public to promote traditional culinary delights, such as kue lapet, tipa-tipa, as well as sasagun, which have been modified into cookies or biscuits, thus they can be sold as gifts," the Toba district official stated.

He asked the selected MSMEs to improve their products’ quality, packaging, availability, and price, so that they can compete with other similar products sold in the market.

"MSMEs are being asked to showcase quality and competitive products with affordable prices,” he added.
