It is our victory, Indonesia's victory, and Toba people’s victory that Indonesia has been appointed (to become the host of the championship) for the first time.
Medan, N Sumatra (ANTARA) - Indonesia is ready to host the F1 Powerboat (F1H2O) World Championship at Lake Toba, North Sumatra Province, from February 24–26, 2023, an official from the Communication and Informatics Ministry has said.

"We are ready to be the best host (of the racing event) that can give the best amenities for both local and international tourists," Director of information and Communication for Economic and Maritime Affairs at the ministry Septriana Tangkary said on Thursday.

After attending the “Lake Toba F1 Powerboat World Championship Media Briefing” at the office of the Toba district government, she said that the preparations for the implementation of the championship have reached 100 percent.

"(The preparations for) the venue and paddock as well as the security of the Lake Toba F1 Powerboat (racing) event have been 100 percent," she added.

She said that all stakeholders held a number of meetings to jointly maintain the security of the event.

Furthermore, Tangkary noted that the development of the supporting infrastructure for the international event has also been completed.

Through various preparations, which have been carried out, Indonesia is ready to successfully implement the racing event, she assured.

She said that she expected the implementation of the F1H2O event to become an opportunity to present Lake Toba as a super-priority tourism destination (DPSP) and draw more visitors to the region.

In this way, tourists can have alternative destinations apart from Bali Island, Bali Province, and Mandalika area, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province, thus tourism activities can grow evenly throughout Indonesia, she added.

"It is our victory, Indonesia's victory, and Toba people’s victory that Indonesia has been appointed (to become the host of the championship) for the first time," she emphasized.

She added that Lake Toba has been chosen to host the F1 Powerboat World Championship for five years, from 2023 to 2027.

The event is targeted to draw 25 thousand spectators.

Lake Toba has been designated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as one of the five DPSP areas.

The other DPSPs are Borobudur Temple in Central Java Province, Mandalika area in NTB Province, Labuan Bajo area in East Nusa Tenggara Province, and Likupang-Manado area in North Sulawesi Province.
