The BSKDN continues to encourage regional governments to create various innovations to improve public services' quality
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Domestic Policy Strategy Agency (BSKDN) of the Ministry of Home Affairs accentuated the importance of innovation from regional governments to improve the public service sector.

"The BSKDN continues to encourage regional governments to create various innovations to improve public services' quality," Head of the Center of Policy Strategy for Development of Human Resources, Information Technology, and Domestic Government Innovation Aferi Syamsidar Fudai noted in a statement here, Tuesday.

Fudai expressed optimism that regional governments would list and identify their abilities to create innovation in accordance with their own characteristics.

According to Fudai, the advancements in technology had necessitated governments to make various breakthroughs in providing services.

"This condition places innovation as a necessity that we must follow up in an effort to improve public service, governance, and the administration of government affairs, which are the authority of the regions under the law," he remarked.

In relation to regional innovation, he stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs is tasked with general guidance, while other relevant ministries and agencies are tasked with technical guidance.

Meanwhile, governors serve as the central government's representatives that conduct general guidance and supervision as well as technical guidance to districts and cities in their respective provinces.

Fudai further noted that in principle, regional governments are given the freedom to be creative and innovate in carrying out their authority in accordance with local wisdom. This is aimed at accelerating the realization of community prosperity and improvement of the community's competitiveness.

The BSKDN is making various efforts to guide regions that are categorized as less innovative or regions whose innovation cannot be assessed, including regions that experience a decline in innovation based on the regional innovation index.

He also reminded all representatives of regional governments to remember President Joko Widodo's direction regarding innovation.

He said the president had laid emphasis that innovation should not only become knowledge but also a culture or even a catalyst to support investment growth by eliminating obstacles in bureaucracy.
