Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono is committed to prioritizing the use of domestic products.

"In the post-pandemic period, we are encouraging the use of domestic products. In the past, the order was to prioritize domestic production, but now, imports are prohibited," Hadimuljono noted in a statement in Jakarta, Thursday.

The minister said that to anticipate inflation, the PUPR Ministry is committed to the procurement process for the use of domestic products.

Hadimuljono also advised on the importance of using domestic product components to maintain the wheels of the national economy.

Based on the PUPR Ministry's e-monitoring data, the achievement of the use of local products in PUPR infrastructure spending in 2022 had reached a figure of 93.4 percent, or Rp112 trillion, from the planned Rp120 trillion.

Earlier, the PUPR Ministry had won the first place for the ministry with the largest use of domestic products at the Increased Use of Domestic Products (P3DN) awards.

The award was given directly by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono and witnessed by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita.

Apart from the PUPR Ministry, awards were also given to the Jakarta Provincial Government, Bekasi City Government, and PT Semen Indonesia in the BUMN category.

The government continues to encourage state budget spending on domestic products, as this is immensely strategic in order to boost Indonesia's economic growth.

According to the president, based on information from the National Public Procurement Agency (LKPP) head, the number of domestic products included in the e-catalog had increased to 3.4 million products, from earlier only 50 thousand.
