Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Transportation Ministry's Air Transportation Directorate General will conduct airplane ramp inspection at 40 airports in the Airport Authority Region I-X to ensure flight safety ahead of the 2023 Eid al-Fitr Homecoming period.

The inspection will be undertaken starting from April 11 to May 2, 2023, the ministry's official, M. Mauludin, noted during the "2023 Homecoming Transportation Readiness" media briefing here on Thursday.

The inspectors conduct routine inspection, especially during peak season times, such as Christmas, New Year, Eid al-Fitr Homecoming, and Hajj, he noted.

Ramp inspection is a planned examination conducted in the airplanes to verify flight operators' compliance to the established standard and regulation during airplane operation.

The inspection objects comprise mandatory document during on board. Inspectors will also monitor defects or problems that occur and their repair.

They also inspect routine maintenance that should be conducted and examine the airplane's general condition during every departure.

Safety is an important aspect in flights that aligns with the aspect of security, Mauludin noted.

The job of inspectors is to ensure that the operating armada are eligible for flight.

"We certainly expect to be able to create a safe, secure, comfortable, and impressive 2023 homecoming air transportation," he remarked.

Meanwhile, the directorate general also stated that 412 airplane armada operated by 13 airlines had been readied for regular flight service.

This figure is expected to increase during the 2023 Homecoming.

They comprise 54 units from Garuda Indonesia, 48 units from Citilink, 86 units from Lion Air, 63 units from Batik Air, 50 units from Wings Air, and 45 units from Super Air Jet.

Moreover, four units from Sriwijaya Air, two units from NAM Air, five units from Pelita Air, 21 units from IAA, four units from TransNusa, 25 units from Susu Air, and five units from Trigana Air have been readied for service.
