Digitalization will support the government's efforts to offer public services, the minister said at the Electronic-Based Government System Summit 2023 here on Monday, according to a statement received here.
"There's no such thing as public services getting (better) without technology, without digitalization. Those are the key," he added.
He said that the government is currently optimizing the use of digital technology in electronic-based governance.
The minister also informed that in practice, good electronic-based governance should be able to ensure better investment, corruption perception index, and law enforcement.
"Like Denmark, the electronic-based government system is ranked first. The others follow, those being corruption perception, ease of doing business, and law enforcement index, those are the top ranks globally," he elaborated.
However, adopting an electronic-based government does not essentially mean that every government agency will need to compete by making apps, he underlined. Currently, there are 27 thousand apps for government institutions, from the central to regional levels.
Because of this abundant number, President Joko Widodo has called for a more efficient digital services system.
The minister said that from 2020 to 2022, at least 10,799 public complaints were received regarding the government's digital services.
"Some of the complaints included protests. Last time, they filled in data in one app. When they get into other apps developed by the relevant sector, they have to fill in data again," Anas expounded.
He then asked government institutions to no longer devise applications as part of their innovative measures.
"We have to prioritize improving the effectiveness and use of (existing) applications," he explained.
Government institutions must integrate the applications onto one platform, both for government uses and for the provision of public services, Anas said.
In the future, digital services must use population data as the basis and employ a single sign-in scheme, both of which would cut down the number of applications and accounts, he added.
