According to the press statement, the discussion was held when Anas received a visit from Blair, who is concurrently the executive chairman of Tony Blair Institute (TBI), at his ministry's office here, Monday.
"Today, we received a courtesy visit from Mr. Tony Blair, and he provided extraordinary support concerning public service digitalization in Indonesia," Anas remarked.
In Blair's presence, Anas highlighted that Indonesia was currently strengthening the implementation of an Electronic-based Government System (SPBE) that has become President Joko Widodo's commitment.
This is undertaken to make public service easier while concurrently improving the accountability and quality of government administration.
Anas deemed Blair's visit as a form of global public appreciation toward President Joko Widodo's commitment in conducting bureaucracy reformation, including through digitalization.
"In accordance with President Joko Widodo's instruction, all of us continue to expedite digitalization. One of the aspects that we expedite is the digital public service mall (MPP)," Anas remarked.
Meanwhile, Blair expressed joy on being able to discuss digitalization efforts in Indonesia. The former Britain PM, who served during the period from 1997 to 2007, stated that digitalization can provide convenience to the public.
He lauded the digital transformation conducted by the Indonesian government. He reiterated that digitalization in bureaucracy is the basis for an effective public service.
He observed that government digitalization is being conducted all across the world that will change countries and fully transform public services.
During his time as PM, Blair also played a part in bureaucracy transformation and government digitalization in Britain.
Blair and TBI assist the governments of several countries in conducting digital transformation. They also have experience in aiding the relocation of several countries' nation capital.
Blair's experience was discussed to support the bureaucracy reformation effort in Indonesia coordinated by Anas' ministry.
