We expect that many more four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles undergo the emission test, and the most important thing is that they pass.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Environment and Forestry Ministry conducted emission test of 250 two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles in a bid to reduce the source of emissions in cities from the transportation sector.

The emission test activity is part of the efforts to raise the public's awareness of emissions produced by their vehicles, Environment and Forestry Deputy Minister Alue Dohong noted in a statement here, Tuesday.

"Today's emission test activity is held until 4 p.m. local time at the Environment and Forestry Ministry's Office. I had already taken the emission test and have the emission test certificate," he remarked.

Every vehicle that passes the emission test receives a certificate. This certificate has a sticker that can be affixed onto the vehicle that had undergone the emission test.

With the sticker, the vehicle can receive various incentives, such as being able to park in progressive parking areas in Jakarta.

"We expect that many more four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles undergo the emission test, and the most important thing is that they pass," he remarked.

Vehicle emission test is one of the methods to stem air pollution from vehicles. The test can identify engine performance detected through a special monitor that includes the combustion efficiency level.

Good combustion efficiency is affected by routine vehicular maintenance that makes vehicles last long as well as being fuel-efficient and eco-friendly.

Moreover, the use of eco-friendly fuel will affect the quality of emissions produced by vehicles.

"If the air is cleaner, then our health will become better. If the public is healthy, then they will also prosper," he remarked.

Air Pollution Control Director at the ministry Luckmi Purwandari noted that the emission test is intended for government vehicles in the ministry's environment, vehicles owned by the ministry's employees, and vehicles from the general public.

The emission test is announced through the ministry's emission test application that will be used or implemented at all emission test locations across Indonesia.

"We urge the people to routinely conduct maintenance of their vehicles, use eco-friendly fuel, and routinely carry out emission test," Purwandari stated.
