Gorontalo (ANTARA) - The Provincial Government of Gorontalo is ready to support the construction of the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara in East Kalimantan by building Pohuwato Airport that is expected to be completed by this year.

“Our region is ready to provide support for the realization of IKN in East Kalimantan. Our efforts include the construction of Pohuwato Airport that is expected to be completed by the end of this year,” Governor of Gorontalo Hamka Hendra Noer stated here on Tuesday while addressing the Domestic Strategic Studies participants of the Regular Education Program Batch LXV of the National Resilience Institute of Indonesia (SSDN PPRA LXV Lemhannas RI).

Noer stated that Gorontalo should be ready to support IKN since it is located in proximity to the area being prepared for construction.

“The Pohuwatu Airport is currently being constructed. Once it is completed, it will only take less than an hour to reach IKN. We are trying to speed up the process, so that it could be completed by this year, a year sooner than the initial deadline of 2024,” Noer affirmed.

As for information technology, he elaborated that Gorontalo has developed innovations and facilitated appropriate technologies required to support digital public services.

By doing so, he expected that it will pave the way for transparent and accountable governance that in turn can help in improving the people’s welfare, especially in agriculture.

“In agriculture, we have the Brigade of Agricultural Machines (Alsintan). We are also conducting digital public services, such as digital farming organized by the Office of Agriculture, and many more,” he explained further.

Meanwhile, Head of the Human Resource Development Agency of Gorontalo Budiyanto Sidiki responded to questions regarding social and cultural matters.

He stated that Gorontalo’s local wisdom, known as Veranda of Medina, helps to establish a good level of harmony and tolerance between religious people and fellow Muslims.

It provides social and cultural resilience in the province.

“We focus on ethical work culture related to the seven competencies stipulated by President Joko Widodo. However, in the context of Gorontalo’s local wisdom, we have a philosophy saying adat bersendikan sara, sara bersendikan kitabullah (means custom based on rules, rules based on the Quran). Praise be to God, we managed to establish a very good level of harmony and tolerance,” Sidiki explained.

The SSDN PPRA LXV Lemhannas group was directly led by the Teacher Expert II of Technological Science Vice Marshal Tri Bowo Santoso. Lemhannas Main Secretary Purwadi Arianto representing the Governor of Lemhannas, and members Brigadier Generals Mohammad Rohadi and Ending Fajar were also in attendance.
