Contraflow will be carried out starting from KM (Kilometer) 47 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road to KM 72 of the Cipali Toll Road.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Traffic Corps of the National Police is preparing to implement a number of traffic engineering schemes to prevent traffic snarls on several roads during the homecoming period of Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijri.

"This year (2023), we will increase the road capacity through contraflow, one-way, traffic diversion, as well as opening and closing (roads)," Director of Law Enforcement at the Traffic Corps, Brigadier General Aan Suhanan, said during a public discussion here on Tuesday.

At the discussion entitled “Food Affordability, Readiness of Public Transportation Facilities and Infrastructure Ahead of the 2023 Eid Homecoming,” he informed that the contraflow scheme would be carried out to lower traffic density around rest areas and on certain road segments.

"Contraflow will be carried out starting from KM (Kilometer) 47 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road to KM 72 of the Cipali Toll Road," he said.

Meanwhile, the one-way scheme will be implemented from KM 72 of the Cipali Highway to KM 414 of the Kalikangkung Toll Gate as well as from KM 422 to KM 442 of the Semarang-Bawen Toll Road.

The director further informed that the schedule for the implementation of the one-way and contraflow schemes has been drawn in consultation with the Transportation Ministry, state-run toll road operator PT Jasa Marga, and other stakeholders.

A contraflow scheme will be implemented from KM 47 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road to KM 72 of the Cipali Toll Road on April 18 starting at 2 p.m. Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB) until midnight and from April 19–21 from 8 a.m. WIB until midnight.

It will again be conducted on April 24 from 2 p.m. WIB until midnight; on April 25 and 26 starting at 8 a.m. WIB; on April 29 from 2 p.m. WIB until midnight; on April 30 from 8 a.m. WIB until midnight; as well as on May 1–2 from 8 a.m. WIB

The scheduled contraflow schemes will be carried out simultaneously with the one-way scheme at KM 72 of the Cipali Highway to KM 414 of the Kalikangkung Toll Gate.

Furthermore, the police will apply traffic diversion as well as road opening and closing schemes on the Cisumdawu Toll Road.

In the event of crowded traffic at Cimalaka Toll Gate, vehicles will be diverted to the Sumedang exit of the Cisumdawu highway.

In addition, if the traffic at the Sumedang exit is busy, the road toward the exit will be closed and the traffic will be diverted to the Pamulihan exit of the Cisumdawu Toll Road.

The government has estimated that 123.8 million people will be traveling during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, 99.22 million of whom are projected to use land transportation.
