"We continue to support Indonesian cinema by conducting information sessions and cooperating with film communities and educating the public that the act of pirating films violates the law," DJKI's Director of Copyright and Industrial Design Anggoro Dasananto said here on Thursday.
DJKI has also intensified preventive steps against IP violations by enforcing joint ministerial regulations between the Law and Human Rights Ministry and the Communication and Information Ministry.
"IP owners who find or suspect IP violations of their work can report to DJKI's Directorate of Investigation and Dispute Resolution for further legal processing," Dasananto informed.
He said his side will provide recommendations to the Communication and Information Ministry to close down illegal sites if they are indicated to be violating the IP of films.
"Soon, there will be revisions to the Copyright Law, where we will strengthen its digital substance," he informed.
Regarding royalties, the Copyright Law accords exclusive rights to creators and copyright holders in terms of economic rights, he explained.
DJKI's efforts to help the welfare of filmmakers and other creators have included providing a record of work copyrights.
"If the films have been registered with the DJKI, the creators/rights holder can feel the benefits," he said.
Through Government Regulation (PP) No. 24 of 2022 as an implementation of Law No. 24 of 2019 concerning the Creative Economy, creators can take advantage of the intellectual property-based financing scheme, he said.
The issuance of PP No. 24 of 2022 is aimed at making it easier for creative economy actors to obtain sources of financing from bank or non-bank financial institutions.
"Thus, the government can present adequate financing for creative economy actors, which will stimulate them to continue to be creative," he said.
