Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan conveyed President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) message to invite China to invest in Indonesia's new capital city (IKN) Nusantara in East Kalimantan.

Pandjaitan conveyed the message during a meeting with Chairman of the Chinese National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) Zheng Shanjie in Beijing, China, as uploaded on his personal Instagram account @luhut.pandjaitan monitored in Jakarta, Tuesday.

“After landing at Beijing International Airport, I rushed to a meeting with the chairman of NDRC Zheng Shanjie. It is an honor for me to meet him because this is his first meeting with representatives of Asian countries after his inauguration," the minister wrote.

During the meeting, Pandjaitan and Shanjie discussed several cooperation projects between Indonesia and China, including the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train, the Global Maritime Fulcrum-Belt Road Initiative (GMF-BRI), and projects in IKN Nusantara.

"We discussed many things, starting from the progress of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train, the Green Industrial Area in North Kalimantan, the GMF-BRI Project, the Herbal Center, South-South Cooperation, Vocational Training, and especially message from President Jokowi regarding the development in IKN Nusantara that has been running well. Therefore, we hope to receive support from China," Pandjaitan stated.

He also invited Chairman Shanjie to directly come to Indonesia to review the progress in cooperation projects between the two countries.

"Hopefully, the good cooperation between Indonesia and China will be able to inspire developing countries and developed countries to collaborate in achieving fair and sustainable development goals," he remarked.

He noted that until now, China's investment accumulation in Indonesia has reached US$30.8 billion from 2014 to 2022.

This investment succeeded in producing 15,906 projects and recorded the country as the third-largest investor in Indonesia.

"Therefore, I express my gratitude and ensure that Indonesia will continue to make various improvements and efficiency, so that we become a developed country in 2045," he said.
