"Check the completed toll roads, which will be opened to reduce traffic congestion, before to be fully operated after Eid,” Jokowi remarked after visiting the Cepogo Market, Boyolali, Central Java, on Monday, as monitored via the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel.
The president explained that the functional toll roads can be used to help in breaking down congestion.
One of the toll roads that will be operated situationally during the Eid exodus period is the Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan (Cisumdawu) Toll Road.
Earlier, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi stated that sections 1, 2, and 3 of the Cisumdawu Toll Road starting from Cileunyi-Jatinangor-Sumedang-Cimalaka had been completed.
These sections had supported the smooth flow of vehicles during last year’s Christmas and New Year holidays.
Meanwhile, sections 4, 5, and 6 of the Cisumdawu Toll Road, stretching from Cimalaka to Dawuan, will be operated during the 2023 Eid exodus period by looking at the situations.
The toll road will be operated in a limited manner until 3 p.m. local time.
"For travelers, who will go home from Bandung to Cipali via the Cisumdawu toll road, the toll road will only be operated from noon until 3 p.m. local time in the afternoon," Sumadi remarked.
In addition to the Cisumdawu Toll Road, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) stated that the six-kilometer section 1.1 of the Solo-Yogyakarta Toll Road will also be opened situationally.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono affirmed that travelers crossing that route can skip five traffic lights.
Hadimuljono stated that the opening of the Cisumdawu Toll Road will follow the Traffic Police Corps’ directions.
"Whether contra flow, one way, or route open and blockage, everything will be based on the traffic police’s direction, according to the conditions and the prepared simulations," he remarked.
After Eid, he said the Cisumdawu toll road is targeted to be fully operational by the end of May this year.
