Bandung, W Java (ANTARA) - The West Java provincial government will conduct an Investment Roadshow in May 2023 to promote the investment potential of the province to a number of investors from ASEAN countries.

“Now, we are being more proactive in promoting (our investment potential) to ASEAN countries," head of the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service Office (DPMPTSP) of West Java province, Nining Yulitistiani, said here on Friday.

"We will contact (foreign) investors who are interested in investing in us through their respective business chambers. Later, after narrowing down on the (potential collaboration) activities, we will hold one-on-one meetings during the roadshow," she added.

She emphasized that her office will intensify attempts to improve cooperation with ASEAN countries.

"Fortunately, the governor of West Java (Ridwan Kamil) has a high spirit in seeking for PMA (foreign investment) investors, especially in several neighboring countries," the DPMPTSP head stated.

Currently, a number of foreign investors from several ASEAN countries are investing in the province, with most of them coming from Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, she noted.

"From time to time, it (the value of foreign investments in West Java) has increased, especially from the ASEAN region, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines," she informed.

In 2022, the investment from Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand reached Rp13.29 trillion (US$893.99 million), Rp910 billion (US$61.21 million), and Rp610 billion (US$41.03 million), respectively.

"Meanwhile, (the value of investment from) the Philippines is still small, however, they have begun to become (more) interested in investing in West Java," Yulitistiani said.

Singaporean investors are interested in investing in the food industry, housing and industrial office development, as well as other services, she added.

Meanwhile, investors from Malaysia are focusing on investing in transportation, warehousing and telecommunications, livestock, housing and industrial office development, as well as other services.

"Regarding (investors from) Thailand, they are more interested in the vehicle industry, rubber and plastic industry, as well as non-metal industry," the DPMPTSP head added.

According to the website of the West Java provincial government, the regional government is targeting the investment realization in the province to reach Rp188 trillion (Rp12.65 billion) in 2023.
