President Director of PLN Darmawan Prasodjo affirmed that the two sides will cooperate in facilitating energy transition in Indonesia that involves an initial feasibility study.
"We laud Siemens Energy as a company that will bring its latest technology in this green energy and decarbonization program," Prasodjo noted through a statement on Tuesday.
"This collaboration aligns with the Indonesian government's commitment to reduce carbon emission and support economic growth," he stated.
This MoU inking was undertaken on the sidelines of the biggest technology fair in the world -- Hannover Messe 2023 -- held in Germany on Monday.
Meanwhile, Business Planning and Development Director at PLN Hartanto Wibowo affirmed that the cooperation will improve the capacity of employees in PLN to develop sustainable energy technology.
This is an important step for PLN to reduce dependence on fossil energy.
"Amid the rapid rising demand over energy, the development of sustainable technology is a big step that PLN took to improve the security of domestic energy," he remarked.
After the unveiling of the Energy Transition Mechanism (ETM) in the G20 Summit, the Indonesian government has made various efforts to develop the energy sector that is just and affordable to the public.
The goal is to reach the net zero emission (NZE) target by 2060.
Wibowo expects that with the support from and collaboration with Siemens Energy, which is the leading technology company in the global stage, implementation of sustainable technology can be immediately realized in Indonesia.
"I expect that this collaboration can proceed smoothly and provide benefit for everyone. This also became reflection that we work together to create a better future," he remarked.
