Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi sent off around 23,439 exodus participants from the Presisi Police Free Homecoming Program to several areas in Java from the National Monument (Monas), Jakarta, Tuesday.

Thousands of travelers departed in two batches, with the first departure on April 18 aboard 130 buses and the second departure on April 19 with 304 buses.

General Prabowo lauded the Presisi Police Free Homecoming Program that is able to accommodate the people's needs for the Eid al-Fitr homecoming this year. From the target of 20 thousand participants, within two days, the number of participants exceeded 23 thousand people.

"Free homecoming program is one of the favorite choices because people can go to their place of origin safely and will be escorted by police officers to the destination," he noted.

The Presisi Police Free Homecoming Program dispatches travelers to 14 districts and cities spread across the provinces of West Java, East Java, Central Java, and Yogyakarta, he stated.

"People have been waiting for this program, and we will try our best to manage it," he remarked.

Meanwhile, Minister Sumadi lauded the National Police for holding a free homecoming program that could help to maintain the safety of travelers during homecoming and accommodate those keen on going home but were constrained by costs, so they chose to go home by motorcycle.

"In fact, the principle of this event is to regulate safety because riding a motorbike is dangerous," he remarked.

Meanwhile, Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, Inspector General Firman Shantyabudi, revealed that the homecoming participants will be dispatched to several destinations, such as Kuningan, Banjarnegara, Semarang, Solo, Wonogiri, Purwokerto, Purworejo, and Yogyakarta.

Moreover, there are participants going to Kudus, Rembang, Surabaya, Probolinggo, Madiun, and Kediri.

"We hope that this program would make a real contribution in realizing a safe 2023 homecoming," he stated.
