Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of Public Relations of State-Owned Railway Company, PT KAI, in the operational area (Daop) 1 Jakarta, Eva Chairunisa, reported that 18 thousand passengers departed from Jakarta via Gambir Station aboard 38 trains on Wednesday.

"For Gambir Station, the volume of passengers departing today has reached around 18 thousand, with 38 train services operating for the 2023 Eid al-Fitr homecoming," she stated at Pasar Senen Station, Jakarta.

Meanwhile, the number of train passengers departing from Pasar Senen Station on the same day reached 23,900 people, with 32 train services operating.

In total, Chairunisa remarked that around 41,900 passengers departed from the Gambir and Pasar Senen stations on Wednesday, with a passenger occupancy rate of 100 percent.

She stated that the homecoming traffic at the Gambir and Pasar Senen stations will start to peak from April 19 to April 21, with the occupancy of departing trains reaching 100 percent.

"Even for today, there are no more tickets available at the go-show counter," she remarked.

Based on data until Wednesday, she remarked that some 580 thousand tickets for the Eid homecoming period from the Gambir and Pasar Senen stations had been sold.

Of these, most of the tickets were for scheduled departures on preferred dates, from April 14 to April 23, 2023, she noted.

Based on data on tickets sold on those dates, the passenger volume occupancy rate had reached 90 to 100 percent, she remarked.

The highest volume of departing passengers was recorded on April 18-21, 2023, with the occupancy rate reaching 100 percent, while most of the popular destinations were Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Purwokerto, Kutoarjo, Semarang, Tegal, Solo, and Bandung, Chairunisa remarked.

"For now, almost all train tickets departing to those destinations are sold out, unless later there are some canceled tickets," she stated.

In addition, she reminded the public to remain compliant with health protocols to prevent COVID-19 transmission.

"Based on the circular letter, passengers are still required to wear masks on trains, especially on long-distance trains (KAJJ). Masks can be taken off during eating and drinking," she emphasized.
