The aid was arranged through cooperation between state-run Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) and a private company, according to a press statement issued on Thursday,
This aid was handed over by the ministry along with representatives from BNI and Huawei at H. Abdul Kariem Foundation in Polorejo village, Ponorogo, East Java, on Wednesday to people in need.
The number of aid packages distributed this year was higher compared to last year, when 1 thousand packages were provided, the ministry's secretary general, Anwar Sanusi, said.
At least 1,500 daily necessity packages were distributed this year, with 1 thousand packages provided by BNI and 500 packages by the private company
"This is the second year and the number of packages has already increased significantly. We expect that the daily necessity packages can increase to up to 2 thousand packages," he said.
"The aid recipients came from various backgrounds, starting from farmers, madrasah (Islamic school) teachers, people living with disabilities, and especially orphans," he added.
According to a report from the committee's chief, Fradda Visca Alvini, the aid from BNI and Huawei was distributed in more than 300 villages in 5 districts—Ponorogo, Magetan, Ngawi, Pacitan, and Trenggalek.
Meanwhile, a representative from PT Huawei Indonesia, Jefri Wong, said that the company has a strong desire to play an important part in the development of Indonesia.
In addition to ensuring 90 percent of its employees are local residents, the company also often provides assistance to support the realization of a more developed Indonesia, Wong said.
The aid distribution activity was also attended by a number of religious groups and public figures from Ponorogo.
