On the occasion, the head of Beijing PPLN M. Adanan Purba encouraged Indonesian citizens (WNIs) residing in China to register themselves immediately to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming elections.
Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun held a friendly gathering event with WNIs at the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing.
"I am addressing all Indonesian students and citizens in Beijing that we are all a family. Let us celebrate this day together and hope that it will purify our hearts," the ambassador remarked.
The event took place after the Eid al-Fitr prayers in the courtyard of the embassy.
To cater to the guests' penchant for Indonesian traditional taste, the embassy served several culinary delicacies, such as lontong, opor ayam, rendang, empek-empek, sayur godong, and traditional snacks.
The head of the event's committee Raden Fitri Saptaji estimated that around 300 people attended the event.
For the first time in the past three years, Eid prayers in China were performed without strict health protocols to handle the pandemic.
Mosques in China held Eid prayers on Saturday in accordance with the stipulation of the Chinese Muslim Association (CIA) that the first of Shawwal 1444 Hijriah fell on April 22, 2023.
