Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Finance noted that three projects for the construction of flood control infrastructures and facilities will be implemented in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) in 2023 with the support of state budget funding worth Rp60.76 billion.
"Three flood control projects being carried out in NTT this year are flood control for the Malibaka River in Belu District; the Waemese River in West Manggarai District; and the Waepesi River in Manggarai District," Regional Office Head of the ministry's Directorate General of Treasury of NTT Catur Ariyanto Widodo stated in Kupang, Tuesday.
Widodo said the three flood control projects had realized the disbursement of their respective down payments by 20 percent, with the contract value of Rp16.9 billion for flood control on the Malibaka River.
Meanwhile, the contract value for the projects at Waemese River and Waepesi River are Rp17.03 billion and Rp26.83 billion respectively.
"These ongoing projects will provide benefits in the form of overflow flood control and control of the destructive power of water," he stated.
Widodo also said that the flood control projects were part of the State Budget's performance to support infrastructure development to reduce the risk of natural disasters in NTT.
He affirmed that the presence of government strategic projects also offered manifold benefits, such as employment opportunities, so the residents had a source of income to improve their welfare.
Hence, he emphasized the need for the community to monitor projects originating from the State Budget, so that they can be completed and provide optimal benefits for the community.
"APBN (State Budget) is the common property of all residents, so it needs to continue to be guarded over its use to ensure that it is in accordance with the goals and objectives," he remarked.
