Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) had established cooperation with the National Defense Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri) in preparation for the 2023 Eid al-Fitr homecoming holiday.

PT KAI Commuter's Corporate Secretary VP Anne Purba told ANTARA here on Tuesday that cooperation with the military and police is undertaken to strengthen security during the 2023 Eid al-Fitr holiday.

According to Purba, workers do not constitute most of the train passengers that frequently ride this mode of transportation, so it is necessary to increase the number of military and police personnel at several spots considered to be crowded.

Most passengers that KAI serves include those bringing children, seasonal passengers, and first-time commuters.

The additional security personnel are expected to disseminate education and inform passengers about regulations while using trains.

Thus far, Purba said that sexual crime cases had not been reported in trains, and the matter is still under control.

This was also strengthened after Purba and her team coordinated with the military, police, and stations' security officers in Greater Jakarta.

In addition to bolstering security through additional security personnel, PT KAI increased the number of CCTV analytics at several crowded stations to anticipate crimes that may occur, such as specifically pertaining to sexual harassment and pickpocketing.

Moreover, Purba implores parents to always stringently monitor their children and educate them.

This is because throughout this Eid al-Fitr holiday, most of the passengers were children, thereby necessitating further supervision, so that unwanted incidents involving them can be prevented.

Given that the Eid al-Fitr collective leave ends today, PT KAI had also prepared a plan to anticipate the number of passengers that may increase tomorrow when people start getting back to work again.

In addition to workers that use the train once again, children's Eid al-Fitr holiday still continues, so the operation pattern engineering will be conducted to minimize train delays.

"Increasing personnel by cooperating with TNI and Polri continues to be done along with operation pattern engineering," Purba stated.

"However, what is certain is that we are ready to help by providing mobile passenger service and customer service at stations to make sure our services can proceed well," she stated.
