Application for e-VoA does not require a guarantor and the payment (for the application process) can be carried out using a credit or debit card having a Visa, Mastercard, or JCB logo.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Directorate General of Immigration of the Indonesian Law and Human Rights Ministry has added Panama, Guatemala, and Macau to the list of regions whose nationals are eligible for applying for a visa on arrival (VoA).

"Foreign tourists can apply for an electronic visa on arrival (e-VoA) through molina.imigrasi.go.id before leaving for Indonesia,” sub-coordinator for public relations at the directorate general Achmad Nur Saleh said in a statement issued on Wednesday.

The new VoA policy has been outlined in Circular Letter Number IMI-0133.GR.01.01 of 2023.

“Application for e-VoA does not require a guarantor and the payment (for the application process) can be carried out using a credit or debit card having a Visa, Mastercard, or JCB logo," the official informed.

After completing the application process, the applicants will only be required to show the e-VoA document on their electronic devices when they arrive at an Indonesia airport or harbor, he added.

He said that immigration officers will then conduct a biometric recording and put a visit permit sticker on the applicants’ passports.

According to the website of the directorate general, the application fee for the e-VoA is Rp500 thousand (US$33.49)

Both VoA and e-VoA services can be used by foreign visitors to carry out various activities, such as taking a vacation, conducting government duty visits, holding business dialogues, purchase of goods visits, meeting visits, and transits.

The VoA would be valid for 30 days after a user enters Indonesia and can be extended once, but cannot be changed into another type of residence permit.

"The electronic visa on arrival (e-VoA) can be used to enter Indonesian territory no later than 90 days after the date of issuance. Meanwhile, the 30-day validity period (of the e-VoA) starts when the foreigner enters the immigration checkpoint in Indonesia," Saleh informed.

Earlier, in February, the directorate general had added Kenya and Rwanda to the list of regions whose nationals can apply for the VoA facility.

As per the directorate general’s website, with the addition of Panama, Guatemala, and Macau, currently, there are 92 regions whose nationals are eligible for VoA.

The addition of the three regions has been carried out to bolster sustainable tourism and boost the community's economic development.
