Labuan Bajo, E Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - State-owned telecommunications enterprise PT Telkom Indonesia has prepared several mitigation measures against likely attacks and threats on telecommunication networks during the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara.

"The first measure is capacity, then after it is deemed adequate, we will proceed to take diversity and security measures," Herlan Wijanarko, Director of Network and IT Solution from PT Telkom Indonesia, stated in West Manggarai, Wednesday.

PT Telkom Indonesia fully supports the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo by providing appropriate telecommunication infrastructures.

In order to ensure that the international event runs smoothly without any interference to communication services, Telkom Group has prepared a "next generation firewall" at two locations: Maumere and Kupang.

Moreover, several posts, guarded by 300 people, have been put in place as well as layers of posts in Bali Nusra (Bali and Nusa Tenggara) region and Telkom Group Jakarta.

According to Wijanarko, Telkom is also providing a reporting system available for 24 hours a week and will be monitored through dashboard and application.

"As of today, we have detected around 600 thousand threats," he remarked.

Telkom Group affirmed that all preparations for the summit were complete while adding that it has also boosted the quality and capacity of several Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) in Labuan Bajo, not to mention transportation required for the second and main route feeder network.

"Overall, we are 100 percent ready. Now, it is only a matter of integrating our services with the venues where the event will take place," he affirmed.

Furthermore, Telkom Group has been providing support in maintaining fiber optic-based internet network maintenance in Labuan Bajo.

Additionally, Telkom Group has put various services in place to cater to the needs of ASEAN Summit's delegates, right from the time of their arrival at Komodo Airport to the peak event venue at Meruorah Hotel.

Its services can also be enjoyed by delegates, guests, and journalists that will cover the summit's series of activities at Ayana Hotel, Bintang Flores Hotel, Mice Golo Mori, Plataran, and also Puncak Waringin.

To ensure better support and stronger fulfillment of commitment to ensuring the smooth running of the event, Telkom Group has conducted a preparedness roll call in Labuan Bajo.
