Labuan Bajo, E Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno is upbeat that the presence of ASEAN Youth delegates at the 42nd ASEAN Summit will help to promote Labuan Bajo as a flagship tourism destination in Indonesia.

"The visit will be sustainable and can spread positive aspects about Labuan Bajo as a conservation tourism destination," Uno stated during his visit to the Golo Mori Convention Centre here, Wednesday.

He noted that according to the survey report, most ASEAN Youth delegates from various countries said they would recommend Labuan Bajo to their relatives and would visit again in future.

Over 90 percent of the delegates said they would recommend Labuan Bajo and more than 80 percent said they would take along their families for another visit to Labuan Bajo, the minister remarked.

"I spoke with some of them, and (they said) they will certainly return here," Uno noted.

Uno, representing the ministry and the Indonesian Tourist Development Corporation (ITDC), then expressed gratitude for the visit of ASEAN Youth delegates to Labuan Bajo at the 42nd ASEAN Summit.

Meanwhile, the minister expressed hope that the Indonesian youth visiting along with the ASEAN Youth delegates can use their social media presence to promote tourism in Labuan Bajo.

"If usually their (social media) posts are often full of dancing (videos), they shall now create content to promote Indonesia's tourism destinations and creative economic products, particularly in Labuan Bajo," Uno stated.

While arriving at Labuan Bajo's Komodo Airport on Sunday (May 7), President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said the 42nd ASEAN Summit would be a good momentum to promote Labuan Bajo to the world.

"This is a very good momentum. We organize the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo to promote the region and ensure the world knows that Indonesia has Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara," Jokowi stated.
