Phnom Penh, Cambodia (ANTARA) - The Indonesian esports national team emerged as the general champion for the sports branch at the Cambodia 2023 SEA Games event, Monday.

After an intense title bout, Indonesia managed to emerge as the general champion after solo PUBGM athlete Alan Kumaseh secured the silver medal for Indonesia.

With the inclusion of the silver medal bagged by Kumaseh at the Solo PUBGM event, Indonesia clinched three gold medals from the Valorant, Women MLBB, and Team PUBGM events and two silver medals from CrossFire and Solo PUBGM.

Meanwhile, the host Cambodia stood second, with a total tally of three gold medals, one silver medal, and one bronze medal.

In general, the Philippines had to settle for the third place, with two gold medals, one silver medal, and three bronze medals.

"This achievement is very prideworthy," Secretary General of Esports Indonesia's Executive Board (PB ESI) Frengky Ong noted through a statement, Monday.

"Amid the increasingly stringent competition in Southeast Asia, Indonesia once again managed to prove itself as the strongest country in the region," he affirmed.

Indonesia's achievement as the general champion at a transnational tournament was realized consecutively after the country also became the general champion for the IESF Esports World Championship in Bali in December 2022, he highlighted.

"However, no matter what we achieved at the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games, we will still conduct evaluation to improve our achievement in the future," he noted.

Kumaseh's match during the final round of Solo PUBG Mobile was intense. He applied a safe and defensive play style from the first match until the third.

In the fourth match, he began exhibiting an aggressive play style when he confronted his opponents. However, he was defeated in the eighth round, with 38th ranking.

Despite this, he managed to collect 12 elimination and 83 points.
