Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned postal company PT Pos Indonesia accelerated the second and third phases of rice assistance distribution to Family Hope Program (PKH) beneficiaries in Seribu Islands District, Jakarta.

The distribution of the aid was conducted from Tuesday to Thursday (May 16–18, 2023), Head of the company’s Greater Jakarta 2 Regional Office, Istiqomah Syariah, informed here on Thursday.

The government provided 10 kilograms of rice to targeted recipients in each distribution phase.

With PT Pos Indonesia carrying out two phases of aid disbursement, that is, the second and third phases, at once this time, PKH beneficiaries received 20 kilograms of rice each.

"PT Pos Indonesia had managed to complete the first phase of rice assistance distribution in Seribu Islands in April 2023," Syariah said.

According to data received by ANTARA, there were 2,277 beneficiary families (KPM) eligible for the Social Affairs Ministry’s PKH in Seribu Islands district, comprising 975 KPMs in South Seribu Islands sub-district and 1,302 KPM in North Seribu Islands sub-district.

The head of Untung Jawa Island village, South Seribu Islands sub-district, Supriyadi said that the assistance was disbursed to the recipients in the area on Wednesday (May 17) and Thursday (May 18).

"The assistance has been provided specifically for impoverished residents. There are 232 recipients in Untung Jawa Island. We are still distributing it to the community until today (May 18)," he informed.

The disbursement of the aid was supervised by the Jakarta Provincial Social Affairs Office as well as the Seribu Islands District Technical Working Unit (UKT) 1 for Social Affairs, Sports, Youth, Libraries, and Archives.

Residents determined eligible for the aid only needed to bring copies of their national identity cards (KTPs) and the Family Register (KK) to pass the identification process and get the assistance.

One of the recipients, Rodiah, thanked the government for providing the aid to reduce the burden on the people and making the requirements for obtaining the assistance quite simple.
