Jakarta (ANTARA) - Land issues in the new capital Nusantara (IKN) must be addressed promptly to support investors, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan has said.

“The task force will coordinate cross-sectoral efforts, as per the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment's role. We will regularly check the progress,” the minister said according to a statement received here on Friday.

President Joko Widodo has appointed the minister to lead Nusantara city's investment task force.

On Wednesday (May 17, 2023), Pandjaitan reviewed the progress of the new capital's development along with the head of the Nusantara State Capital Authority (OIKN), Bambang Susantono, and director general of human settlements at the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry, Diana Kusumastuti.

The land issues that need to be addressed in Nusantara city include the prices of plots, which would need to be set through appraisal, the minister said.

Susantono affirmed that the minister's visit to the city was to review its development progress as well as to discuss the investment opportunities that could be realized soon.

"The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment intends to see the progress of Nusantara's development, also discuss investment opportunities that can be immediately realized in Nusantara city," he said.

During a meeting at Merdeka Palace on Monday (May 15), President Widodo prompted ministries and institutions to pursue investment, in accordance with the applicable law and regulations, as well as address land issues.

"We want everything to be clean and clear, something like that, so what will be offered to the investors are the plots which have been (fully prepared) with known price tags, so they can immediately calculate for it," Susantono said following the meeting.

To meet that target, the government has formed a task force led by Minister Pandjaitan to coordinate ministerial and institutional efforts so that the investment in Nusantara city can be arranged effectively and efficiently, he added
