"MSMEs and tourism in Indonesia, Kaltara, in particular, will grow and attract the attention of the local community as well as foreigners," Deputy Assistant for Tourism and Creative Economy at the ministry Hermin Esti Setyowati stated in Tanjung Selor, North Kalimantan, on Saturday.
She said the ministry, in accordance with its main duties and functions, had coordinated and synchronized with the relevant ministries and institutions to jointly support Gernas BBI and BBWI.
Especially for North Kalimantan, which is currently the host, the.Kemenko Marves invites relevant stakeholders in this area, such as Bank Indonesia, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), related agencies, and all district and city regional governments, to jointly oversee the national movement inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on May 14, 2023.
Kemenko Marves is targeting more micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to be brought on board or enter the digital economy. The government and stakeholders are ready to provide assistance to improve the quality of human resources and enhance the quality of MSMEs.
"For BBWI, of course, it will raise the tourism potential in North Kalimantan. With activities like this, it will give space for MSMEs to be able to market their products and attract tourists to come," she remarked.
Earlier, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut B. Pandjaitan appealed to regional heads to jointly develop and encourage the government's Gernas BWI and BBWI programs to local e-catalogs.
"BBWI's target for this year is 1.2 to 1.4 billion Indonesian tourist trips. This is twice the achievement last year," he remarked.
He said this activity is expected to boost regional income through the tourism sector by as much as Rp3,281 trillion, or equivalent to 18 percent of Indonesia's nominal gross domestic product.
