Jayapura (ANTARA) - Papua caretaker Governor Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun urged his ranks to focus on discussing local potentials of the province's eight districts and city during the Special Autonomy Development Planning Discussion (Musrenbangsus).

"We hope that Papua Musrenbangsus will yield extraordinary results," the governor stated after opening the discussion at the Papua Governor Office Hall, Jayapura City, Wednesday.

Rumasukun deemed it crucial to discuss the Musrenbangsus activity, especially after the expansion of the newly formed autonomous regions (DOBs).

Hence, he appealed to all related parties to make all-out efforts for ensuring the success of the Musrenbangsus activity, in the hopes of yielding prominent results.

"I would also like to emphasize that the results yielded from the Musrenbangsus must be concretely and measurably implemented," he emphasized.

Governor Rumasukun also highlighted the importance of optimizing regional potentials in pursuit of boosting regional economies. He believes it would be even better if products of each region can penetrate not only the domestic market but also expand their reach to foreign markets.

"Papua's eight districts and one city possess (various) potentials, such as Sarmi District, with its Crude Palm Oil (CPO) (potential) and Biak District, with its marine wealth (potential)," he pointed out.

To this end, Rumasukun urged all parties to work in collaboration to make the most of the potentials in the hopes of elevating them to become products of high economic value for their respective regions.

He also said that the provincial government is pushing local governments in Papua to prepare and market their typical products at the 2023 Sail Teluk Cenderawasih (STC).

"I called on district and city governments to participate (in the STC) and introduce their own local products to tourists because the event will be opened by President Joko Widodo," Rumasukun noted.

At the office hall, apart from deliberations during the Musrenbangsus, the Papua Government also conducted dissemination of information on the Governor's Regulation concerning Additional Employee Income (TPP) for the 2023 Fiscal Year and functional positions in the personnel sector in the Papua Provincial Government.
