Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana arrived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Wednesday afternoon, after delivering a speech at 2023 Ecosperity Week and having lunch with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

The president's entourage landed at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 03:40 p.m., as cited from a statement from the Presidential Secretariat's Press Bureau, received in Jakarta on Wednesday.

In a VIP room at the airport, the president and first lady were welcomed by Malaysian Foreign Affairs Minister Dato' Seri Diraja Zambry Abdul Kadir, Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Hermono, Indonesian Defense Attache in Malaysia Cavalry Colonel Guruh Prabowo Wirajati, and Malaysian Ad Interim Charge d'Affaires for Indonesia, Adlan Mohd Shaffieq.

During his journey, the president was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, State Secretary Minister Pratikno, and Investment Minister and head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Bahlil Lahadalia.

Based on the caption of a picture uploaded by the Presidential Secretariat, the president and first lady later departed from the airport for the hotel where they will spend the night.

At their arrival, they were welcomed by "Hadrah" art performed by the management of the Special Branch of Nahdlatul Ulama Malaysia. In front of the hotel, the couple was greeted by the Indonesian Deputy Ambassador to Malaysia, Rossy Verona, and her spouse.

Later, in the hotel, President Widodo and First Lady Iriana received greetings from Coordinating Minister of Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan, and Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah.

Also in attendance were a number of officials and staff from the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

During his stay in Malaysia, the president is scheduled to hold a meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Malaysian King Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah.

President Joko Widodo aims to make the most of his visit to Malaysia by pursuing the finalization of essential negotiations that have been going on for years, such as negotiations on border issues and Indonesian migrant workers (PMIs) protection.

The president is to arrive in Indonesia on Thursday evening.
